@JP - yes, it still has original equipment. @MM - in the year 1954, British buses mostly didn't have automatic drive, independent suspension, power steering, air suspension and braking systems and all the comfort for passengers that the Routemaster introduced. @Burdzio - actually, there were only four prototypes for London Transport - this one and RM2, plus two for Green Line services, RML3 and CRL4. All other RMs were from the production line. I hope this explains
There was also FRM1 (registration KGY 4D) bulit in 1966. FRM1 had Park Royal Body, and AEC AV691 engine. I also heard about sixth prototype, but I'm not sure if it ever exist. If you want I can send you list of all Routmaster ever produced
@ Burdzio - OK, I agree that FRM1 was another special design (which sadly did not result in any production, as by this time there were other front-entrance, rear engined buses that operators could buy) and also RMF1254, another one-off design for a Routemaster with front entrance and staircase, so I guess you were right in theory! I was thinking only of the four original buses, so thanks for pointing this out.
