| Inne informacje | This company`s roots can be traced back to 1875, originally as Bristol Tramways. In 1887 the Bristol Tramways Company merged with the Bristol Cab Company to form the Bristol Tramways & Carriage Company. Later this was known as Bristol Omnibus Company. Bristol Omnibus became part of the National Bus Company in 1948. In September 1983 National Bus Company split the operations of Bristol Omnibus Company. One part of the operation became Cheltenham & Gloucester Omnibus Company. The other part remained with Bristol Omnibus Company. The Bristol Omnibus Company operations were split in two: Citybus for services in the city of Bristol and Bristol Country Bus for services in Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire. The second operation became Badgerline, whereas the operation on this page became Citybus. In September 1987, City Line (formerly Citybus) was sold to Midland Red West. By April 1988 Midland Red West (and thus City Line) was purchased by the Badgerline Group. The Badgerline Group merged with GRT Group to form FirstBus in April 1995. In 1996 Badgerline, as part of First Group was merged back into City Line. Between 1996 and 2003 the companies operated as First Badgerline and First City Line, later being rebranded as First Bristol, the company for Bristol city services. In 2003 the First Badgerline operations became part of First Somerset & Avon. In 2016 the operations of First Bristol and First Somerset & Avon were merged, forming First West of England, although the name was already partly in use since 2013. All buses since 2016 can be found under First West of England. | |||
