7 maja 2018 - A unique survivor from the early days of bus transport. As its name suggests, this Tilling-Stevens machine uses a petrol engine to power an electric motor, which in turn drives the road wheels. The driver`s controls are similar to those of a tram and the bus was designed to make it easy for tram drivers to master - they were very popular in the 1920s and 1930s. This bus was rescued from a scrapyard in 1971 and took nearly 30 years to fully restore. In 2014, it was sold at auction for GBP214,000 (yes, well over one quarter of a million Euros!)

Well, that`s very interesting! Hybrid vehicle in the twenties
But i`m curious about this part: "this Tilling-Stevens machine uses an electric motor to power a petrol engine". Isin`t it the other way round? Usually e.g. in locomotives diesel engine is a generator and the current is passed to electric traction motor. So logically here it would be easier if it used petrol engine to power electric motor that drives the wheels. 
You are right, of course - petrol drives electric - sorry for the slip and well spotted ;-0
