11 maja 2007 - Linz, Austria, Postlingbergbahn. The lower terminus – city trams stop just outside. In a supreme act of official vandalism, all this has been swept away so that low-floor trams can run up the Postlingberg directly from Linz city centre. The line is currently closed and will reopen next year with new 900mm tracks and new trams. I think that just one or two of these old trams will remain for tourists, somehow modernised and re-gauged.

11 maja 2007 - Linz, AT - Postlingberg: Two of the Postlingberg trams at a passing loop on the way up the mountain. This line was built in 1898 and was originally worked by open-sided trams until the 1950s, when a fleet of these locally-built cars took over. One of the original cars is (was?) still in the depot and came out on special occasions, although since the gauge change I wonder if it can run on the line any more.

11 maja 2007 - Linz, AT - Polstlingbergbahn: Tram XVI again, with another of the fleet. The trams have just crossed a road on the way up the mountain and have paused for a photograph. Most of these trams were scrapped when the track gauge was narrowed to 900mm and just three survived.
