20 kwietnia 2015 - Szeged, tramway depot: This tram has an amazing history. First built in 1897 (yes, 1897!) it served as Budapest #207 until 1938, when it was rebuilt as the prototype for Type F1A and renumbered #1506. In 1972 it was given an entirely new body and served as a works car until 1984, when it came to Szeged. Although it is obviously immortal, it doesn`t look as though it will ever run again.

20 kwietnia 2015 - Szeged, Kalvaria sugarut: This pair of trams is available for private hire in Szeged. They were once Budapest #2569 and #2573, built in 1907, and were rebuilt for use in Szeged in 1961.

20 kwietnia 2015 - Szeged, tramway depot: Not content with a Tatra KT4D to chop up and play with, the workshop staff here now have an old Bengali to play with. Presumably the plan is to turn this shell into a modern, low floor version of the old Bengali, which is now just a museum piece. When you look at how much progress has been made in building their low-floor Tatra (see my earlier photo today) you wonder if anything will ever come of the plan.

20 kwietnia 2015 - Szeged, tramway depot: I took a photo of this monster in March 2011 when it was standing in the Szeged trolleybus depot. Here it is again, but now in the tram depot shed. Close examination will show that NO further work whatsoever has taken place in the intervening four years (which makes you wonder why the company had kept it and not just sent it for scrap. Perhaps they are waiting for the Tatra Fairy to wave her magic wand and turn it into something useful?

20 kwietnia 2015 - Szeged, Europa Liget, Hungary: One of the (then) new Pesa cars at the turning circle at the end of Route 2, a new line opened just a few years ago. These modern,low-floor Pesa trams were bought to replace the last few "Bengali" trams that ran here for many years and to allow for system expansion.
