1952 - Aachen (DE) – Bahnhof Rothe Erde. The amazing tramway system in and around Aachen, close to the borders of three countries, had a very complicated history. Like a metre-gauge version of Tramwaje Slaskie, its tracks extended over a wide area of towns and villages. Trolleybuses ran there, too, and the company still exists as a bus operator. Because of its location, the tramway system was much damaged in two world wars. Trams were a very mixed bunch, some ex-SNCV and others from various German manufacturers. This is a 1908 Herbrand converted to a works car. (Photo : Peter Boehm)Aachen (DE) – Bahnhof Rothe Erde.
